Patristic mind: the Trinity of Basil

Abstract

To acquire the patristic mind, as presented in the work of Fr. Florovsky, requires not only living the liturgy and prayer, nor merely limiting ourselves to reading the holy fathers in order to memorize certain sentences. Rather, by reading them, we begin to think like them, united and moved by the same Holy Ghost. Then we could affirm that the patristic age has not ended but it remains to this day. My idea is that by reading Basil in two of his works —Hexameron and On the Holy Ghost—, we can discover not only the content of what we believe but also how and why we believe it, with the hope that the reader may find applications in our days. Moreover, to read some of his letters would allow us to understand his historical reality which was by no means easy.
