The Trinity in the light of the Christian East: theology and ecumenical dialogue
Main Article Content
Abstract
The reception of Eastern Trinitarian theology, from the Fathers to the present, might suggest that the Christian East preserved a static, unchanging system. Yet the Orthodox tradition reveals a distinctive dynamism: the Trinity is not merely doctrine but liturgical and spiritual experience. From Athanasius and the Cappadocians to Lossky and Zizioulas, Eastern triadology shapes an understanding of the mystery as communion, where liturgy, patristic exegesis, and ecclesial life converge. Recent studies also show how this heritage enriches dialogue with the West, particularly after the critical reassessment of the De Régnon paradigm and through contributions such as those of Hervé Legrand. His methodological proposal opens paths toward a shared Trinitarian vision capable of integrating tradition, synodality, and ecumenical renewal.
