Ministry of the Spirit and ministers of the Spirit. The pneumatological dimension of ordained ministry
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to show how the pneumatological dimension of the ordained ministry contributes to offering a comprehensive approach to the sacrament of Holy Orders that harmonizes the Christological and ecclesiological dimensions of the sacrament of Holy Orders, as well as the identity, ministry and life of ministers. To this end, starting from the relationship between Christ and the Spirit as its foundation, it is made explicit in what sense the ordained ministry is “ministry of the Spirit” insofar as the Spirit is at its origin, as an agent and gift of the sacrament (ministry by the Spirit), it guarantees the effectiveness of its exercise aimed at communicating the Spirit to others (ministry for the Spirit) and enlivens the entire existence of the minister with its transforming dynamism and the styles of his ministerial action in each age (ministry according to the Spirit).
